F&A division's COMMIT to become standard

The Division of Finance and Administration (F&A), in alignment with MUSC Excellence, has established standards of behavior to be modeled by all employees in the division.

The acronym COMMIT was selected—as a commitment is defined as a personal pledge or dedication. F&A wants all employees to be committed to the MUSC Service Excellence.

COMMIT’s six statements are:
  • C (Customer Service)—I commit to understanding and exceeding customer service expectations.
  • O (Outstanding Attitude)—I commit to displaying an outstanding attitude by taking pride in the institution as if I own it.
  • M (My Accountability)—I commit to being accountable for all of my actions.
  • M (My Appearance)—I commit to being mindful of my appearance and the appearance of the institution.
  • I (Information Sharing)—I commit to sharing information to foster service, growth and understanding.
  • T (Teamwork)—I commit to collaborating with all members of the MUSC team to provide a service-oriented institution.
Employees of the Division of F&A received (or will receive) a standards of behavior brochure, COMMIT reminder card, and be required to read and sign a standards of behavior commitment statement. This statement will be retained in the employee’s file, and a copy will be presented to the employee.

The Standards of Behavior will be incorporated into the 2007-2008 Planning Stage Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) document, under the Performance Characteristics, Behavioral Expectations section. A rating will be given for each of the components of COMMIT. This rating will be incorporated into the overall EPMS rating.

Standards of behavior, in alignment with pillar goals, are an essential part of University MUSC Excellence. Division of F&A employees are responsible for displaying behaviors that support a service-oriented institution and employee pride, as if each person were an owner of the institution.
