Meet...Sallie

Name: Sallie Campbell.

Department: Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences program coordinator, MUSC Behavioral Health—North Area (satellite office at Trident Executive Village).

How long at MUSC: 20 years.

Hidden talents: Water sports, the beach, and photography; I made most of my clothes from seventh grade until graduating from college.

Last book read: “The Western Guide to Feng Shui” by Terah Kathryn Collins.

Community service: Currently, a national board member of the American Assoc. for Marriage and Family Therapy. Past president, S.C. National Association for Social Workers; past president of SCAMFT and professional member, Internal Review Committee, S.C. Board of Social Work Examiners.

Pet peeve: Lines in the grocery store or seafood counter being closed.

One ingredient you must have in the refrigerator: Key Lime Pie Yogurt.

Fondest childhood memory: Being at my grandmother’s house at Christmas with all 13 first cousins surrounding me.

What led you to choose social work as a career: I assisted my mother by planning recreational activities in Chesterfield County DSS aftercare clinics. My mother worked there for 30 years and I became fascinated with the various diagnoses of the clients. I was also fortunate early in my career to have good supervisors who encouraged me to pursue social work as my career path.

Accomplishment of which you are most proud: The expertise I have built in the area of clinical ethics; I have presented in this area since 1989.
