Nominations sought for MUSC Foundation awards

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost invites nominations for the following 2007 MUSC Foundation awards:
  • Distinguished Faculty Service Award—To recognize and honor faculty members of MUSC who, during a substantial portion of their careers, have provided exceptional and sustained service and contributions in teaching, research, health care, and/or public service to the university and citizens of South Carolina.
  • Outstanding Clinician Award—To recognize and honor full-time faculty of any duration of service, who have made outstanding contributions to patient care at MUSC. Active clinicians, who commit a significant portion of their time caring for patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings are eligible for this award. Awardees will have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, integrity, and devotion to patient care. They will have gained recognition as dedicated, compassionate and highly effective clinicians. Their clinical excellence and service commitment identify them as role models for residents, students and their faculty colleagues.
  • Developing Scholar Award—To recognize and reward junior faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to the research mission of MUSC, and to promote the continued development of these creative scholars. The award is aimed at individuals who have successfully demonstrated the capacity to compete for extramural funding but who are still in the formative stages of their career and demonstrate exceptional promise for the future. Candidates are restricted to faculty members holding the rank of assistant professor who have been on the MUSC faculty at least two, but no more than six, academic years.
Nominations for these awards may be made by MUSC faculty, staff and alumni. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 4. For nomination forms and information, contact Marcia Higaki at 792-2340 or higakimc@musc.edu.
