High performance health care teams program offered

In today’s increasingly demanding health care environment, improved team work is one key to survival, and effective leadership of health care teams is key to success.

Ironically, the effective leader of the traditional organization usually needs additional skills to become an effective team leader. A program, “Leading High Performance Health Care Teams,” will help attendees explore every facet of team leadership.

This is not just a course on team work; but an in-depth, interactive program to develop coaching, leading, and team facilitation skills. Participants will finish the program with specific tools, skills, and techniques for improving their teams’ performance.

The program leader, Thomas W. Kent, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the College of Health Professions. Kent teaches in the Bachelor of Health Sciences curriculum and conducts continuing education workshops on leadership and team-building issues. He also provides consultation to health care organizations, focusing on the development of interdisciplinary process improvement.

This program will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8 in the following locations:

  • Charleston—live presentation in the College of Nursing, room 208
  • Florence—interactive video conference in the Media Center, Francis Marion University Campus, room 208-B
  • Greenville—interactive video conference in the University Center, room 231

The registration fee includes a comprehensive participant manual and training guide, and continental breakfast each day. The cost is $225 per person or $175 per person for teams of three or more from the same department. Register by Oct. 22 and participate in the free advance team assessment!
