On Oct. 25, MUSC’s Outcomes Management Department celebrated “Make a Difference Day” by improving the living conditions for homeless families at the Reid House.

Approximately, twenty master's-level nurses and social workers painted four bedrooms and two baths in a matter of hours. “We were thrilled with their contribution to our renovation project,” said Delores Green, director of Reid House. In fact, the group was invited to the dedication ceremonies slated for later this month. In addition to being a shelter, the Reid House also serves as an on-site adoption agency.

Participants include the following: outcome managers Mary Hughes, Pat Wagstaff and Sharon Degrace; continuum of care managers Kim Egbert, Jean Rhodes, Melissa Brown and Karen Hiott; social workers Brenda Comfort-Holloway, Gale Horinbein, Aundria Douglas, LaVerne LeFlore, Cherlyn Monroe, Neomi Brown, and Emily Hindman; services coordinator Toni Catoe; statistical analyst, Allen Jones and his wife Lauren; as well as Jessica Gieseke, daughter of Elizabeth Gieseke.

Other members celebrated the day by partaking in Camp Bluebird, M-A-D Day and Race for the Cure to promote cancer research.
