AREA awards given to employees for
going beyond
AREA (Accountability, Respect, Excellence
Applause) awards were given to employees who have gone above and beyond
their job description and have demonstrated actions exemplary to the Medical
Center or Medical University's mission, visions and values.
The individuals can either receive a $50 dinner at restaurant of their
choice; a $50 gift certificate for either Citadel or Northwoods Mall or
$50 in movie passes.
The employees were:
- Kelly Greene, Quality Services,
was recognized by both an employee and a visitor to the Medical Center
for providing help to a shooting victim in the St. Francis (now referred
to as the Rutledge Medical Tower) parking lot.
- Sherry Kamenicky, Peds Cardiology,
was recognized by a fellow employee for showing kindness and caring toward
a transplant patient and his family by picking them up, taking them to
dinner and including them in her family functions for the duration of their
stay.
- Sandy Priester, Pharmacy, was recognized
by fellow employees for always going out of her way to help patients and
fellow employees. Lately she has gone beyond that by taking sick workers
food and looking after their houses and animals while they are on vacation.
- Kathy Viglianco, Occupational Therapy,
was recognized by a fellow employee for going to a patient's home on the
day the patient was to be discharged and taking down the existing bed so
that a hospital bed could be set up.
- Mohamed Ali, Surgery, was an intern
for the Burn Unit during March. Ali was acknowledged for being extremely
helpful, working well with the staff and being efficient while being fun
to work with.
- Gloria Gantt Wilford, Neurology,
was recognized for helping with grants and colloquium.
- Elaine Terry, Neurology, was recognized
for helping with grants and colloquium.
- Jerry Viita, Physical Plant, was recognized
for doing an excellent job in the renovation of Human Resources Office,
first floor, Harborview Tower.
- Isaac Singleton, Physical Plant,
was recognized for doing an outstanding job on the renovation of the Human
Resources Office, first floor, Harborview Tower.
