Dear MUSC Colleagues:

It is with great pride that I report that, as of Nov. 30, MUSC/UMA/CFC employees contributed more than $210,000 through the 1998 Trident United Way Campaign. I am most grateful to all faculty and staff members who led by example through their generosity and participation in this year's campus campaign.

Your generosity, along with that of 2,000 MUSC/UMA/CFC employees, will be used to support over 43 health and human care agencies throughout our community this coming year. These agencies will provide hundreds of programs designed to promote health and healing, increase self sufficiency, nurture children and youth, strengthen families and support older people. Thousands of individuals in our community will turn to these agencies this coming year for assistance, education, guidance and care. Thanks to you, these individuals will find help.

Thank you for your participation in this year's campaign and believing in the power that you, one individual, can make a difference. The power of your Trident United Way contribution

• $500 provides 182 homeless people with a meal.
• $1,000 enables the area's 24-hour crisis/suicide hotline to anwer emergency calls for help.
• $2,500 is spent keeping five at-risk youths off the street and out of trouble.
• $5,000 is used to help two disabled adults to learn job skills and find work.
• $7,500 provides 12 elderly individuals with a hot meal every day for one year. q
• $10,000 provides 15 abused and neglected children with a safe and caring environment.
