employees receive AREA awards for job well done
AREA (Accountability, Respect, Excellence Applause) awards were
given to employees who have gone above and beyond their job description
and have demonstrated actions exemplary to the mission, visions and values
of the Medical University.
Employees received a $50 gift certificate to either Citadel or Northwoods
mall. The AREA award recipients are:
-
Thomas Branton Jr., and Herbert Franklin, University Housekeeping:
Branton and Franklin assisted in aiding a man running to the Parking Garage
II booth who was bleeding badly from a bottle cut to his neck and chest.
-
Meredith Lyons-Crews, Psychiatry: On her time off, Lyons-Crew assisted
a patient and her mother in dealing with a potentially harmful and difficult
situation, which resulted in a positive outcome.
-
Sophie Robert, Pharm.D., Community Pharmacy Practice: Robert came
to 8 East to ensure that a patient transferring to the Institute of Psychiatry
received their medications. Also, since the patient was transferred around
dinnertime, Robert took dinner to the patient to make sure they were
not missed.
-
Kristi Woods, Pediatrics: Woods took extended time explaining in
detail about a patient’s illness to his mother. She even brought personal
books from home to better explain the illness.
