Finance
reorganizes to improve services
In a move aimed at better serving the university's mission, MUSC's Finance Division is changing its organizational structure. The new organization is composed of two main functional units, Business Operations and Services and Financial Management. Business Operations and Services contains all the functional areas necessary to operate daily business activities; procurement, accounts payable, payroll, financial computing systems, and accounting. By including a Business Services section, it encompasses all the internal and contractual services necessary to the business operations of the university, such as parking, transportation, media services, printing services, dietary and vending services, and mail, under one director. Financial Management contains all the units necessary to operate financial matters for the university, such as budget, cash management, financial reporting, financial analysis, and capital budgeting. The newly structured organization is headed by Robert M. Kerr as director of Business Operations and Services and Susan B. Haskill as director of Financial Management. Kerr comes to MUSC from the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services where he held the position of chief of the Bureau of Fiscal Affairs. Kerr is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a certified public accountant. He brings with him more than 10 years of managerial experience in governmental and fund accounting as well as grants management and the application of OMB cost principles. Haskill, a certified public accountant, has been with Finance and Administration since 1994 and has served the university in the role of assistant controller for financial affairs and more recently as interim controller and assistant treasurer. |
