Central Stores staff informs employees

On Aug. 5, the second meeting was held for user departments regarding the closure of Central Stores.

Representatives from Allegiance, Owens & Minor and Corporate Express were present to address ordering procedures for medical/surgical and copier paper products. Departments were informed that Oct. 29 will be the last day Central Stores will accept any orders.

During the meeting, an update on the status of other services provided by the Materials Management Operation were discussed. Receiving & Distribution will maintain its operation at the Service Center on Arco Lane.

Additionally, the Surplus Property Office will continue to provide moving and storage services.
However, Procurement is in the process of seeking a contractor to undertake the management of its program for gas cylinders. Until further notice, departments are requested to continue ordering their medical, industrial and specialty gases through Materials Management.

The next meeting scheduled to discuss the closing of Central Stores is Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. until noon in 2W Amphitheater.
