New
Survey Research Unit opens doors
The new Survey Research Unit (SRU) was introduced to expand new
areas of research by the university's Center for Health Care Research Team
(CHCR).
The survey unit will supplement basic and applied research that examines
access to health care, resources, costs, quality, delivery, organization,
financing and outcomes for health.
It coordinates campuswide inter-disciplinary collaborative research
with outside collaborations.
The unit falls under the guidance of center director Marc D. Silverstein,
M.D. and associate director Gail W. Stuart, Ph.D., R.N. James Zoller, Ph.D.,
is the technical director of the SRU.
Located on the 12th floor of Rutledge Tower, the unit also will conduct
surveys, perform data entry and analysis. It is equipped to provide design
assistance and implement many diverse survey projects.
Other services will include survey design assistance, sampling, questionnaire
design, as well as conducting surveys using mail, Internet, fax, e-mail
and telephone. Supplementary services include data entry, data cleaning,
database management, survey analysis and survey presentations.
The SRU conducts surveys as part of a grant-funded research project.
It executes market research efforts, conducts organizational assessments,
generates widespread opinion polls, collects diverse sources of data and
assists in grant application preparation using a survey component.
Zoller is a research associate with the CHCR and is an adjunct faculty
member in the Department of Health Administration and Policy.
Zoller's experience in survey development and administration provides
a significant foundation to the program.
Survey supervisor Patricia A. Bryan is responsible for the administration
of all surveys. She is experienced in conducting a polls both locally and
nationally. The unit is staffed with a cadre of interviewers who will conduct
telephone surveys and other marketing strategies.
The entire interview staff attends continuing education training in
addition to detailed survey orientation prior to the start of each survey
project.
