OT students work with visually impaired

Summer Sensations camp was a great success, according to 3rd year occupational therapy student Jerri Lynn Craft.

Participating in a sensory activity at a fountain, 3rd year O.T. students Angela Boyd, left, and Monica Snipes splash in the water with Trevor, Shelby, and Shawn.

Conducted by MUSC Student Occupational Therapy Association, in partnership with the Association for the Blind, the camp’s focus was to provide children with vision impairments, ages 5 to 11, with an opportunity to participate in physical, social, and sensory experiences to enhance the development of life skills and foster self-confidence and independence through purposeful play.
Students and children spent the day swimming, doing arts and crafts, storytelling, listening to music and playing games.

The program was held at Charleston County Library. For information about next year’s program, call the Association for the Blind at 723-6915.
