Shuttle
bus routing revisions become effective Oct. 2
The Oct. 2 opening of the Lockwood Drive parking lot will allow all shuttle
bus transportation to be located on the western portion of the peninsula.
The bus routes have been modified to include the Lockwood Drive parking
lot and to better serve the majority of passengers.
The shuttle system transports an average of 2,800 passengers per day:
-
87 percent of passengers travel to/from from the Jonathan Lucas bus
stop
-
7 percent of passengers travel to/from the Rutledge Tower bus stop
-
3 percent of passengers travel to/from the Wellness Center bus stop
-
2 percent of passengers travel to/from the Family Medicine bus stop
-
Less than 1 percent of passengers travel to/from CMH bus stop
-
Less than 1 percent of passengers travel to/from other locations
Changes effective Oct. 2
-
The “MUSC” buses will provide direct service to/from the Hagood and Lockwood
parking lots and the Jonathan Lucas bus stop during the a.m. and p.m. peak
travel times. In the a.m. peak, several buses will originate from the Lockwood
lot and go directly to the Jonathan Lucas bus stop.
-
The “Rutledge” buses will operate only during the a.m. and p.m. peak travel
times providing local service to/from the Hagood and Lockwood parking lots
and all other locations on campus.
-
To eliminate a safety concern, the CMH bus stop will be relocated to the
existing Wellness Center bus stop on Courtenay Drive.
-
To encourage increased ridership on Rutledge buses, the Rutledge Tower
bus stop will be relocated adjacent to the east side of the MUSC Horseshoe
on the corner of Ashley Avenue and Doughty Street.
These changes have been made in consideration of, and deference
to the needs, and requests as expressed cumulatively by passengers.
