Dear Colleague,

As chair of the 2001 Trident United Way Campaign, I am writing to ask for your help in making this year's fund-raising drive the most successful ever. Many of us are aware of the importance of the United Way to the Lowcountry community. It touches peoples’ lives every day in so many ways—promoting health and healing, increasing self-sufficiency, nurturing young people, strengthening families and supporting senior citizens.

But it can't do any of these things without strong public support. By making a gift to this year's Trident United Way Campaign, you can help ensure that these important services remain available to the people in our community who need them so desperately.

For as little as five dollars a week, for example, you can provide a month of after-school child care for a school aged child, or deliver a month of free meals to a homebound senior. I personally cannot think of an easier or less expensive way to make such a dramatic impact upon the well being of our community. Through Trident United Way-funded programs last year alone, more than one in three tri-county residents were helped by people like you and me!

I encourage each of you to read your Trident United Way materials and consider making a gift to this year's campaign. In doing so, you can improve your community and make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. It all begins with “The Power of U.”

Sincerely,

John C. Sutusky, Ph.D.
Vice President for Finance and Administration
Chair, 2001 TUW Campaign
