OACISDid you know...The OACIS system receives notes from several different sources. These sources include the MedQuist system (transcription outsourcing company), the OACIS Transcription Macro, and the OACIS Web Notes project. Of these, the largest volume is received from the MedQuist system. The OACIS Web Notes project is currently in a pilot test phase. There are currently over 70 transcriptionist using the OACIS Macro in various departments through MUSC. An average of 600 notes are flowing into OACIS each day. Approximately 65 percent of those notes are coming from the MedQuist system, while 35 percent are coming from the OACIS Transcription Macro. Here are some of the notes you will find in OACIS: Cancer Clinic Notes, Cardiology Notes and Letters, Digestive Disease Notes (Esophageal Manometry and PH Study, Pancreatobiliary, Rectal Manometry), Discharge Summaries, EEG Reports,Endocrine (Letters and Notes), Neurophysiology (Evoked and Intraoperative-Evoked, Potential, Seizure Monitoring and Trancranial Doppler), OB/GYN (Discharge Summaries, Letters and Notes), Operative Notes, Orthopedics Reports, Pediatric Cardiology (Catheterization Reports and Office Notes), Pediatric GI Reports, Pediatric Surgery Letters, Pulmonary Reports, Radiology Oncology Reports, Surgery Reports, Transplant Surgery Notes, Clinic Notes, Evaluations and Reports, Urgent Care Notes, Urology Clinic Notes and Letters. While every effort is made to post each note received to the patient’s record in OACIS, occasionally errors are made in the transcription process causing the note to have an incorrect patient name, medical record number or patcom number. Notes not loaded because of inconsistent or incorrect information are corrected and re-processed as soon as possible once they are identified.
