Did you know…

The Infection Control Department is excited to announce that methicillan resistant stapylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin resistant enterococcus (VRE), and/or mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) status of patients is now listed on rosters in OACIS.

This is the result of sustained effort and is expected to enhance the ability to control the spread of antibiotic Resistant Organisms.

The Infection Control Practitioners (ICP) have been entering each patient identified with the above organisms in the past year, and they alone have the ability to add and delete these indicators.

This is meant to give the clinician notice that the patient needs to be on appropriate precautions, so the information should be used accordingly.
If you know that the patient has been cleared according to policy (Infection Control #12 “Discontinuation of Isolation”) notify one of the ICPs so that the status may be checked and the indicator deleted if appropriate. The ICP can be reached by individual number or centrally by calling 792-4308 or paging the ICP on call.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding the new Infection Control Indicators in OACIS, call the infection control coordinator, Jodell Johnson, at 792-4308.
