MUSC's
weight loss challenge program returns
How much is six pounds worth? It could be worth $200. It's time once again
for Lose to Win, the weight loss challenge.
The holidays are approaching and for many of us, that means overeating.
Every January the same New Year's resolution seems to be made: go on a
diet, lose weight, exercise. What better way to accomplish that resolution
than by joining Lose to Win?
The
dietetic internship students have taken on the responsibility of the Lose
to Win program as part of their curriculum. Interns from left are: Purvi
Shah, Laura Becker, Amanda Clark, Julie DesMarteau, Kevin Tomlinson
and Holley Johnson. Dr. Ray Greenberg, MUSC president, shows his support
of Lose to Win which is being offered as part of the Team MUSC Wellness
program.
This six-week program is designed to give participants helpful information
on safe, effective weight loss strategies, as well as important tips on
developing healthy behaviors.
Whether your goal is to lose weight, eat healthier, or begin an exercise
program, Lose to Win can help you accomplish that goal.
There are many benefits of the program, including a weekly newsletter
delivered to your home and weekly classes. You will not only gain valuable
information, but you will also be eligible to win a prize, simply by attending
class. Class topics include healthy cooking, tips to modify your recipes,
and simple exercise moves, just to name a few.
The program cost is $15 if you register before Jan. 9, or $20
on registration day, Jan. 16. There is an optional weigh-in on registration
day. You may enter as an individual or as a team. Participants who lose
six pounds will be registered for the grand prize cash drawing at the conclusion
of the program.
Don't miss your opportunity to learn healthy behaviors and the chance
to win prizes. Register now for Lose to Win 2002. Keep reading The Catalyst
for more information or e-mail Laura Becker at becker@musc.edu.
