Letters
to Dr. Greenberg
Since becoming president, I (we) have received many letters commending
our faculty and staff for outstanding patient care. These letters, or excerpts
from letters, from patients and their families provide ample evidence of
their high regard for our clinical services. I am pleased to share some
of them with you, and recognize those who are providing skilled and compassionate
care.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
My father is coming up on his one year anniversary since his heart
transplant. I am very proud to say that we are able to do things this past
year that I thought we would never do again. Everyone there should be very
proud of being a part of such a top notch organization.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
You should know that MUSC did a wonderful job in giving my father
a much brighter future. Dr. Sunil Patel and the resident staff were excellent
and demonstrated a genuine concern for my father and mother. They should
be commended for their fine work.
Dear Dr. E. Conyers O'Bryan:
I am writing you to tell you how impressed I was with the care my
partner's daughter received at the Medical University of South Carolina.
As I am sure you are aware, on Nov. 6, 2000, Elizabeth Walter underwent
a live donor hepatic transplant from her father, Todd Walter, M.D., at
MUSC. This was the first living donor hepaic transplant in the state of
South Carolina.
The care Elizabeth and Todd received at MUSC was nothing short of
fantastic in my opinion. I had numerous conversations with Dr. (Prabhakar)
Baliga and found him to be very kind and patient. Also the care and concern
shown to this family by the nurses and the ancillary staff was very good.
Dear Roger Slaine:
I could not go without sending you a note to commend you for the
job you do with the MUSC Trauma Tours for my PreTrial Intervention (PTI)
Defendants.
I greatly thank you for going beyond the call of duty, the time and
effort you put into this most serious endeavor, and the obvious concern
you have in attempting to prevent tragedies which may often be preventable.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I read with interest the excerpts from letters commending the hospital
staff in The Catalyst. I simply could not let the opportunity pass to say
a word about Dr. Bill Creasman. During the entire time my wife was treated
with ovarian cancer (she passed away last summer) Dr. Creasman and his
staff were wonderful. I would not try to name individuals because I would
surely leave someone out. I will forever be thankful for Bill Creasman.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I am writing to you on behalf of my wife and myself to commend Dr.
Kelliann Chidsey for the care and service she has provided to us.
We have found her to be the finest MUSC has to offer without exception.
She is the most caring and professional doctor we have ever met.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
Our son was recently diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis,
a rare blood disorder that effects mostly children. Dr. David Griesemer
was absolutely stellar in the way he directed us to your staff. In addition,
Jeff Campbell, the neurology staff, Maxine Saxby and the radiological staff
were very compassionate and very professional. Your staff truly deserves
recognition for not only being good professionals but also good human beings.
True medicine lives!
Dr. Lyndon Key:
I write this letter of appreciation to each of you at MUSC: professors,
doctors, social workers, nurses, dietitians, nursing practitioners and
nutritionists and everyone who we may have come in contact with during
our stay at MUSC. I have never seen a team of people who are so loving
and dedicated to people, with a passion to excel as you all do.
You have all given our son a chance to live a normal and full life.
As parents you have given us hope for the first time in many months. I
pray that people in America, particularly in this area, would open their
eyes and see how blessed they are to have the finest hospital staff and
facilities in the world. Thank you so very much and keep up the excellent
standard of love, unity and dedication.
Dr. Greenberg:
Excellent care was given by an astute nursing staff including Ms.
Johnson, Tess, Judith, and my attending physician, Dr. Walter Brzezinski.
Dietary had no trouble in providing a glutose free, lactose free tasty
diet. All of which added up to a definite “10“ in hospital care.
Dr. Greenberg:
I want you to know about a case that Dr. Ed Wilson is taking care
of at the moment.
One of my colleagues brought their newborn down from Boston for Dr.
Wilson to perform surgery. They told me that they asked around and his
name kept coming up as the best surgeon with the most experience. He has
done such an outstanding job with pediatric cataract surgery.
