National Primary Care Week scheduled at MUSCDon’t miss the upcoming events planned for National Primary Care Week at MUSC, Oct. 14-17.National Primary Care Week (NPCW) is a student-led initiative coordinated by the MUSC Office of Community Medicine and South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium. This event highlights primary care careers and demonstrates the tremendous need for primary care providers, especially in rural and underserved communities. The Monday brown bag presentation is also the first in a special lecture series entitled “Contemporary Issues in Prevention.” The Catalyst will provide dates of future lectures in the series during the coming months. Medical students who attend at least five of the seven lectures between October and April 2003 will qualify for special mention in their dean’s letters. “Primary Health Care in the 21st Century: A
Team Effort”
The participants will be Maria Gibson, M.D., Susan Barger, and Catherine Francis-Baldesari, from the Department of Family Medicine. They will discuss the roles and contributions of the various clinicians in a successful practice.
