Letters
of gratitude to Dr. Ray Greenberg, MUSC staff
Since becoming president, I (we) have received many letters commending
our faculty and staff for outstanding patient care.
These letters, or excerpts from letters, from patients and their families
provide ample evidence of their high regard for our clinical services.
I am pleased to share some of them with you, and recognize those who are
providing skilled and compassionate care.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
My daughter and her 15-month-old baby were shopping at a local store,
when my grandson began to have a seizure. Two MUSC nurses, Malia
Reed and Teresa Johnson, of the Surgical Transplant program, came to his
need and stayed with him until the baby was transported to MUSC.
After the baby arrived at the hospital there were many people who were
involved in his care, and I wanted to thank them for their services.
They go as follows: Drs. Sally Webb, Joel Cochran, Fred Tecklenberg,
and Melissa Henshaw. In addition, the nurses in the PICU were wonderful.
Angie, Marilyn, Marybeth and Tiana were competent and caring. I am grateful
that we have a Children’s Hospital that gives more than 100 percent care.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
My husband was admitted to the Heart Center under the care of Dr. Grady
Hendricks. He received compassionate and competent care from many
of the staff at MUSC. Dr. Usher was able to alleviate a blockage in
one coronary artery and place a stent, and Dr. Gold was able to ascertain
the need for and place an Internal Cardiac Defibrillator. The fellows,
Dr. Crawford, Dr. Malanuk, and Dr. Wood were so knowledgeable and were
thorough with their teaching before and after the procedure.
The staff deserves the highest praise for their care.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I brought my infant son to the Trauma Center due to a high fever per
his pediatrician. It turned out that my son was okay, but I wanted
to say thank you to the staff who attended to his needs and our distress.
From registration to admission, we were treated with kindness and concern.
From the nursing staff, Nancy Phillips and Melanie Colcord, to the physicians,
Shane Hooper, resident, and Dr. Vanzura, ER attending, we could not have
asked for more help.
Thank you to all the staff that helped us and please pass along this
heartfelt “thanks.”
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I was admitted to MUSC for surgery on my right shoulder, performed
by Dr. Del Schutte. During my recovery I was confined to the 7th floor
orthopaedic section.
The nursing care and related services were performed in an extremely
professional manner. All personnel, with whom I had contact, knew
what their responsibilities were and they carried them out in a most pleasant,
efficient and competent fashion. They should be recognized for such a truly
outstanding job.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
We are so excited. Our son has four weeks left of his 108 week chemotherapy/radiation
protocol. He is doing very well, thanks to the wonderful medical attention
he has received at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The physicians, nurses, and pharmacists have been professional and
caring. In particular, our son's regular nurse in the pediatric hematology/oncology
clinic, Cindy Stokes, has been an extraordinary asset in his treatment.
Also, Lynn Miller in University Medical Associates Patient Accounting has
been steadfast in guiding me through the insurance maze.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
This is a very tardy but heartfelt letter expressing my gratitude for
the care I received during my hospitalization at MUSC.
The nursing staff and all of the support staff were quite helpful and
took very good care of me during these difficult and unfortunate times
on ones life.
It is a pleasure to have MUSC to help one through this period.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I had to visit your emergency room recently and was treated so kindly
by everyone who interacted with me. I do not know everyone’s names, but
I was treated by Billy Ward and Drs. Carl Queener and Laurence Rainey.
I was in a great deal of pain and not by any means at my finest, and
all of your staff treated me with kindness and respect.
The doctors and Billy each took the time to explain what was going
on in each step of my treatment.
