March is nutrition monthMarch 1 marks the beginning of National Nutrition Month, an education initiative sponsored annually by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).The ADA, with more than 70,000 members, is the nation's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. National Nutrition Month serves to encourage the development of healthy eating and physical activity habits while highlighting the importance of making informed food choices. This year's theme, Start Today for a Health Tomorrow, focuses on the importance of incorporating healthy eating and activity into daily life. Through the month of March, the MUHA Dietetics Services and dietetic interns will provide timely, scientific food and nutrition information to the MUSC community. Look for table tents in the cafeteria and flyers throughout the campus containing quick food and nutrition facts. The campus Audix system and broadcast e-mail will provide information on upcoming National Nutrition Month events. Nutrition and healthy lifestyle articles and a nutrition tip column will be published weekly in The Catalyst. Participants can start their own commitment to a healthier lifestyle by trying the Lite Choice of the Day in the campus cafeteria. For more information on National Nutrition Month, visit its Web site
