Raffles to help employee’s battle with cancer

Known for her ever-present smile and compassion towards others, Radiology’s Susie Hall needs your help.

Friends and co-workers of Hall are sponsoring two raffles to support a special medical fund in her honor. Hall, who has been battling head and neck cancer since 1999, has suffered from a reoccurrence as of August.

Department of Radiology staff recently worked together to create a fund that will help Hall offset some medical, dental and pharmaceutical costs associated with her care.

The primary raffle features tickets for four to the Nov. 22 Carolina versus Clemson football game  at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25.

A secondary auto accessory raffle features a drawing for two car CD players  and a car alarm  from Custom Car Stereo and Mobile Dealer Services of Charlotte. Ticket donations are $2 each or three for $5.

Both the football tickets and auto accessories were presented as donations.

The department recently collaborated to collect donated airline miles that would give her a chance of a second opinion regarding the course of her cancer care and treatment.

“Susie’s a born fighter who doesn’t dwell on pitying herself,” said Mansle Raines, manager of specialty imaging, Department of Radiology. “Her selfless attitude and consideration for others are examples of her genuineness and spirit as a friend and co-worker.”

The drawing for both raffles will be held at noon, Oct. 17 in room 295, CSB. All contributions will be donated to the Susie Hall Fund.
