Twins, triplets celebrate at James Island parkTwins and triplets from the tri-county area gathered with their families on Sept. 6 to celebrate the second annual Twin/Triplet Day—a celebration of families with multiples delivered here at MUSC.Obstetrician Dr. Roger Newman, back row, poses with twins and triplets at the James Island County Park. Newman personally delivered some of the twins and triplets seen here. Roger Newman, M.D., organized the event at the James Island County Park with the support of Prenatal Wellness Center staff and other members of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The South Carolina March of Dimes donated a $3,000 community grant. The Charleston Area Mothers of Multiples Club also provided financial support. Despite heavy rains from Tropical Storm Henri, Twin/Triplet Day hosted more than 150 family members. Newman was thrilled with the turnout, but he wasn’t the only one. The families appreciated the celebration as well. “With twins or triplets, any excuse to get out of the house is a good
one,” said one mother. Newman is looking forward to an even bigger picnic
and party next year. And sunny skies, of course.
