Hulsey elected coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International

Tara Hulsey, Ph.D., R.N., associate professor and department chair, College of Nursing,  has been elected Region 7 coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.

Hulsey has been at MUSC for 13 years and has held numerous positions during her tenure. Her specialty area is high-risk obstetrics, and she previously served as perinatal outreach educator and regional systems developer for the university’s eight-county perinatal 
region. She currently serves on the executive committee for the university faculty senate, the university research advisory committee, and is chair of the university gender equity committee. 

She has taught and advised in the College of Nursing undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs and is the track coordinator for the nurse educator master’s program. 

In addition to her teaching, she conducts research and has published in the areas of unwanted pregnancy, infant mortality and low birth weight, and maternal pregnancy behaviors. 

Hulsey is also an associate professor in the College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and a full member of the faculty in the College of Graduate Studies.
