Lose to Win contest offers chance at $200 prize

It’s that time of year again—the backwards time of year when losing is winning.

The dietetic internship at MUSC, Ali Miley  and Mary Joan Oexmann, are hosting Lose to Win, a six-week healthy lifestyle program/research study offered to employees, students, and all  members of the community. Six classes on diet, exercise, goal setting, managing meals,  developing healthy habits, and what to do when you stumble will be offered. These classes are recommended—if not for your health, for door prizes. Local sponsors have donated gift certificates.

In addition to door prizes, the grand prize winner will lose unhealthy habits and gain $200. There will also be cash prizes for the second and third place losers/winners.

Participants are required to weigh-in and weigh-out. The  weigh-in will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 22; the weigh-out will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  March 4. Participants must be present at both the weigh-in and the weigh-out to be eligible for the grand prize money.

Early registration will be across from the Gourmet Coffee Shop from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 11. If you are unable to make it, register prior to Jan. 15 at drop boxes located at Harper Student Center, Harborview Tower, Rutledge Tower Cafe, MUSC main lobby, or the MUSC cafeteria. Registration and questions may be sent to musclosetowin@yahoo.com. All entries received before Jan. 15 will be eligible for $5 off of the $20 registration fee. Make sure to mark your calendars for March 4 as the weigh-out day for the extravaganza; the day where losers win.
