Nursing honor societies form at-large chapterThe MUSC Gamma Omicron Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and Charleston Southern University Nursing Honor Society announces the chartering of an At-Large chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing at 6:30 p.m., April 14.K. Sue Haddock, R.N., Ph.D., will conduct the chartering ceremony in the Gold Room of the Strom Thurmond Building on the Charleston Southern University campus. Approval for the chapter was granted by the Sigma Theta Tau International board of directors. Membership in Sigma Theta Tau International is by invitation and is extended to undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and professional nurses who have demonstrated superior scholastic, leadership and nursing achievements. Sigma Theta Tau International has more than 300,000 members in 423 chapters in colleges and universities throughout the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Pakistan, South Korea and Taiwan. The organization encourages and sponsors research, promotes the development of nursing leadership and supports the development of nursing scholars. Some 20 nurse leaders and students will be inducted and join approximately 400 current Gamma Omicron members as charter members in this group. Following the chartering ceremony, a reception will be held. All current
Gamma Omicron members are encouraged to attend this historical event.
