Presidential Scholars 2003-04

The Presidential Scholars Program brings together selected students from the university's six college to explore the complex social, political, and human issues that shape the delivery of health care services in South Carolina and the nation.

During this year-long, extra curricular program the scholars address issues that transcend their own discipline and professional boundaries. In doing so these outstanding students develop new perspectives on important health care professionals and can become leaders of health care change.

The following students were selected for the Presidential Scholars for academic school year 2003-04:

College of Dental Medicine—Andrew Chandler, David Christensen, Jachelle Garrett, Thomas Gue Jr., Kevin Kelleher, and Kristen Rowland. 

College of Medicine—Yolanda Bryant, Andrew Del Gaizo, Dendy Engelman, Sajeevani Gunasinghe, Jeffrey Horn, Travis Johnson, Kenneth Kim, Kyle Kokko, Tameka Lane, Julia Richards, Cameron Thurman, Jessica Townsend, Jennifer Voight, and Richard Preston Wendell.

College of Graduate Studies—Scotty Morrow, Octavia Peck, Stephen Shafizadeh, and Justin Turner.

College of Health Professions—Christine Beckett, Martin Brodsky, Natalia Corica, David Elgarico, Jonathan Elgarico, Isaac Sanchez, and Christopher Sherod.

College of Nursing—Sharon Bond, Nicole Childs, David Klos, Jennifer Orak, Michelle Pittard, Mark Riccioni, and Kimberly Scott.

College of Pharmacy—Sarah Bush, Sherl Drawdy, Kristen Geisenhoffer, and Cary Mountjoy.
