May is Military Appreciation Month

MUSC's Public Safety Color Guard presents the colors during the Military Service Recognition Program.

On May 8, more than 185 men and women were honored in MUSC's Military Recognition Program held in the Basic Science Building Auditorium. Active reserve component employees and employees with veteran status of the U.S. Armed Forces were recognized with certificates and awards by MUSC leaders.

“....Thanks for making us all proud and for taking the time to acknowledge the sacrifices that are being made on our behalf.”
—Dr. Ray Greenberg, MUSC President

“Thanks for taking the time to put the Military Appreciation Program together...very nicely orchestrated and touching presentation.  It was certainly nice to see the leadership support today, too!”

“Being a Vietnam vet as well as a 29 year (active duty and reserve) military person, it is nice to see an organization care for its military folks like that. I vividly remember what it was like in the early 70s...you just didn't bother to tell people you served in Southeast Asia. I know our Iraqi Freedom vets will have a much easier transition into a normal life than many Vietnam vets have. The respect you have given all of us is deeply appreciated and will ease their transition back to ‘the world’.”

The audio visual presentation was great. Almost every presentation I've seen since the mid-80s has used Lee Greenwood's “God Bless the USA” in it. Don't get me wrong, it is a great piece of music to use with a patriotic presentation...but you selection was very moving and absolutely on target!...”
