Cultural Projects Council keeps arts, events coming

Spring semester may be over, but that doesn’t mean that the wheels of the Cultural Projects Council have stopped turning.

With the mission of “promoting the development of well-rounded university students and enriching the lives of MUSC faculty, staff and alumni,” the Cultural Projects Council set out in 1984 to bring the arts and cultural events to MUSC.

For almost 20 years, the council has sought to provide the MUSC family with free concerts at St. Luke’s Chapel, Fat Tuesday celebrations, annual art/photo exhibits, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and programs by local theatre companies.

On the heels of the council’s “best year ever,” the members remain committed to providing cultural enrichment to the MUSC campus.

Financial contributions from the President’s Office, the Health Sciences Foundation, the Student Government Association, the Office of Diversity, and private donations fund all of the events organized by the council.

In order to continue to bring performers like the Gullah Kinfolk, Bundit and Mary Jane Ungrangsee, and Quentin Baxter to St. Luke’s, provide dessert receptions, and promote active student and employee involvement in the artistic community for the next 20 years, the council depends on support from the MUSC community.

To add your support to the Cultural Projects Council, specify the organization on a YES campaign pledge form.

YES campaign forms may be found in The Catalyst or visit http://www.musc.edu/catalyst/2003yespledgeform.htm.
