Quarterly Quest for Excellence Awards presented

The Division of Finance and Administration’s Quest for Excellence Awards were presented for the first quarter of 2003 at the May monthly meeting.

The Quest for Excellence awards are designed to recognize three employees each quarter who exemplify excellence while performing their job duties.

Nominations are submitted to the vice president for administration and finance at the end of each quarter.  The Quest for Excellence committee then meets and selects an award  recipient for each of  three awards: The First Mate award, the Navigator award and the Shining Start award. Each winner receives a $25 American Express check, a framed certificate and a luncheon with the vice president of finance and administration and the Quest committee chairman.

The following employees received awards:
  • The First Mate Award was presented to Brenda Marcelais from the Office of Parking Management. The First Mate award is designed to recognize the employee who demonstrates exemplary performance in a highly visible customer service capacity.  Marcelais was nominated by Cindy Garmon, the assistant director of parking management.
  • The Navigator award was presented to Jeff Bonk of Engineering and Facilities. The Navigator award is designed to recognize excellence in customer service in  a behind-the-scenes capacity.  Bonk was nominated by Tanis Manseau, director of engineering and facilities.
  • The Shining Start award was presented to Julanda Bennett from Engineering and Facilities. The Shining Start award recognizes excellence in either a front line or behind the scenes customer service capacity to an employee with less than one year of service.  Bennett was nominated by Mark Schmidt, supervisor of the MUSC Store Room.

The Quest for Excellence committee will receive  nominations for the second quarter of 2003 until June 30.
