The results are in for the winners of the spring semester of the MUSC Student blood donation competition.

The envelope please… tied for the win were The Bloodbornes of Graduate Studies and AMA from the College of Medicine.

Thanks to Matthews Bookstore, the Bloodbornes, led by Kelly Guyton, received MUSC T-shirts and the AMAs, led by Heather Tripp, received a print of the MUSC campus view from the horseshoe. The Ramrods (Pharmacy) placed second and A+ (Pharmacy) placed third.
During the competition, 60 student donors presented in order to save a life. The next semester of the competition began May 12 and runs through Aug. 22.

Student teams may have 10 or more people and substitute donors may be used in the event that a team member can’t donate.

Many opportunities exist for individuals to donate, as in the Red Cross donor room on the second floor of the hospital or the blood mobile drives in the horseshoe the first Monday of every month.

To make an appointment through Health Connection, call 792-0219 and press 1. To reach the donor room, press 2. Donor room hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 7 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays. Walk-ins are welcome.

Student Teams: Bloodbornes, AMA, Ramrods, A+, Users (Medicine), Speech Leech (Speech Pathology), 1st year Medicine, Blood Brothers (Medicine) and Rehab Throm-boids (Health Professions).
