New employment application system to be rolled out

Do you remember when you applied for a job with the Medical University? If you were hired during the last few years, you probably found the whole process rather exhausting.

If you have been hiring people during the last few years, you too have found the hiring process exhausting and frustrating.  A major change is on the way.

Beginning July 21, the university’s Department of Human Resources Management (HRM) will roll out its new Web-based employment application system, PeopleAdmin.  By using this system, applicants will be able to apply for non-faculty positions online from any computer with Internet access. Once an applicant creates a user ID and password, she/he can manage his or her application to apply for specific vacancies.

Applicants will no longer be required to recreate their application each time a new position becomes available. However, they will have the flexibility to update and customize their applications as necessary.  Another important feature is that applicants will be able to login and check the status of their application for each position for which they have applied.

There are even more benefits to PeopleAdmin for hiring officials: No PEAR forms to initiate a request for recruitment and no paper applications to organize.

HRM employment consultants will review applications as they are received and refer them electronically. Additionally, hiring officials, as well as search committees can review the applications online.  Departments will be able to complete the Applicant Review List (ARL) electronically and return it to Human Resources.

PeopleAdmin, located in Austin, Texas, developed the system software especially for higher education and government markets. The PeopleAdmin staff has been on campus and trained the HRM staff and selected departmental representatives.

While using the system is relatively easy, the Department of Human Resources Management will conduct several training sessions during the next few weeks.

After July 21, a power point presentation and user manual will be on the HRM Web site for quick reference.  Additionally, HRM Employment Consultants will be able to assist department representatives with using the system.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about the system, contact Dana Tumbleston at schneidd@musc.edu or Yohna Cone at chambeyo@musc.edu. In the meantime, get ready because People are coming.
