Meet...Penelope

Name: Penelope Chase.

Department: Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Nurse, Clinical Services.

How long at MUSC: Since 1989.

Favorite room in your house: I think I like the deck and screen house best.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Whole milk for my pot of tea in the morning.

Special place in the world: A mountain top in Tortola (British VirginIslands) where I can look down on little propellor planes and the sea.

Fondest childhood memory: Catching cider in a tiny glass as it flowed from the press into a wooden barrel on our farm.

Bad habit: Interrupting.

Pet peeve: Lack of humor.

Hobbies: T'ai Chi, container gardening, cooking on weekends.

How do you stay fit: Watch what I eat. Walk some mornings.

Most rewarding thing about your job: Supporting and coaching patients and family members with decisions about medical treatment or at the end-of-life.

If you suddenly had a free day, what would you do: Nothing.

Something people don't know about you: I once quit my head nurse job, moved to the Carribean and lived and sailed on a beautiful wooden sailboat.
