Family: Wife, Steffanie, and children—Gil, 4, and Megan, 2.

Favorite reading: Military fiction.

Favorite music: Folk/Celtic.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Pickled okra.

Fond childhood memory: Fishing with my grandfather.

Most interesting job you’ve had: When I was 16 years old, I worked on a shrimp boat, seven days a week. I only got a day off when the weather was bad.

Bad habit: Procrastination.

How do you stay fit: Chasing two youngsters.

Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, family outings.

Memorable trip: Four-day cruise to Nassau.

Guests at a fantasy dinner: Sean Connery and Strom Thurmond.

Something people don’t know about you: I like to drive across the state, just visiting places.

Historical event you would have liked to witness: Victory in Japan Day.
