Kiawah practitioner joins Carolina Family CareKiawah Island physician Michael Book, M.D., has joined MUSC’s Carolina Family Care as an adult family practice provider.Dr. Mike Book, left, is greeted by Dr. Bob Means of hematology/oncology and Dr. Del Schutte of orthopaedics. Book, who completed medical school and family practice residency at Duke, has treated patients from around the Johns Island, James Island, Kiawah and Seabrook areas since 1995. On Aug. 15, Book will open his new offices near the resort’s new oceanfront hotel, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, which opens in 2004. “I’m very pleased with this partnership and excited to share my expertise with MUSC physicians and services,” Book said. “There are many qualified physicians and staff here that are not known among the James and Johns Island patients I see. Now I can continue to help provide them with the best care in the state.” Book will continue to see his current patients as well as new patients
residing or visiting at Kiawah Island. His wife, Sarah, is an assistant
professor of psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry working with the
Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs.
