TUW Day of Caring

A Day of Caring

What better day to reach out with care and compassion than Sept. 11?

Although this day will forever be associated with tragedy and grief, approximately 150 volunteers in 10 groups from MUSC chose to reach out to the community for a Trident United Way Day of Caring.

In what was themed as “A Day of Caring,” MUSC’s 150 were among about 4,000 volunteers throughout the tricounty area participating in more than 100 projects to help non-profit, human service organizations and their clients.

Here’s the list of groups from MUSC and the projects they chose:

  • Engineering and Facilities Division—United Methodist Relief Center
  • Critical Care and Emergency Services—Anchor's Away
  • Grants and Contracts Accounting—Sea Island Habitat for Humanity
  • Public Safety—Charleston Habitat for Humanity
  • Dean's Office College of Medicine—Child and Family Development Center
  • College of Nursing—Crime Stoppers of the Low Country
  • Office of Development—Crime Stoppers of the Low Country
  • Care Management—Enterprise Community Health Center
  • Finance—Sea Island Habitat for Humanity
  • Masters of Health Administration—Enterprise Community Health Center

Terry Stanley, associate dean of development, and a young helper prepare a flowerbed which will be on the playground at the Child and Family Development Center.

Volunteers from the Dean's Office, College of Medicine, along with staff and children from the Child and Family Development Center stop long enough for a photo to be taken during TUW's Day of Caring, Sept. 11.

Engineering and Facilites employees Jean Swinton, Richard Grant, center, and Robert Simmons, volunteer their time for the United Methodist Relief Center during the Trident United Way's Day of Caring.
