Ambulatory Care Services recognizes winners

Each quarter, Ambulatory Care Services recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate the organization’s values of Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Adaptability.

Staff members who have received an “Applause for Caring” card during the quarter are automatically eligible for the AREA Award. Second quarter 2003 AREA Award recipients are:

  • David B. Adams, M.D., Surgery/General and Gastrointestinal Surgery
  • Rosa Lee “Molly” Harrison, Transporter, Rutledge Tower
  • Petrina T. Palmer, Patient Registration Representative, Storm Eye
  • Lisa Knox Pinckney, Family Medicine
General and Gastrointestinal Surgery's Dr. David Adams and staff.

Adams was nominated by several patients for the excellent care and treatment that he delivers.  It was noted that both Adams and his staff are great and that they are very kind, caring, and understanding in their work with patients and family members.

Molly Harrison, second from left, celebrates with her co-workers.

Harrison was nominated by a fellow employee. She had been very concerned about an employee who had gone home not feeling well, and alerted a nurse. If it had not been for Harrison’s concern and actions, this employee may have suffered dire consequences.  She is also noted to have a great attitude and is wonderful with patients.

Petrina Palmer, second from right, with Dr. Ed Wilson, SEI director, and employees of the institute.

Palmer was nominated by a visitor (a physician) for the way she handled a very difficult situation with a patient and family member.  She remained calm and helpful and went the extra mile to turn a challenging situation into a positive one.   “This is the type of employee I would hire for my office. She is outstanding,” wrote the patient.

Lisa Knox Pinckney, center, celebrates with co-workers.

Pinckney was nominated by 11 of her patients for the friendly and efficient care that she delivers. It was stated that she is very attentive to the patients’ needs and shows a great deal of concern and care. She is said to be very thoughtful and considerate while performing her job in a professional manner.

The Ambulatory Care Prize Patrol surprised  the individuals in his/her practice setting. Each recipient received an AREA Award badge holder, a framed certificate, a Be My Guest dining card in the amount of $50 and a cake to share with co-workers.
