Congratulations to Lynn Bond, R.N., PACU, for being selected as the A.R.E.A./APPLAUSE
employee of the year, and to the quarterly A.R.E.A./APPLAUSE winners. Also,
I want to express my gratitude to Marc Williams, manager of Clinical Neurophysiology
Services and chair of the A.R.E.A./APPLAUSE Awards Committee, and the committee
members for their exceptional work, reviewing all APPLAUSE cards and selecting
winners. Additional information about the winners is highlighted below.
As communicated in previous newsletters, in addition to our goal of
implementing the Medical Center Authority, the Medical Center's tactical
priorities include: reducing cost of care, customer service, medical staff
involvement, information-based decision-making and management effectiveness.
Work teams will develop specific objectives for accomplishing these priorities.
All of our tactical priorities are important. However, when we communicate
our performance improvement plan "motto," we will emphasize customer service
and reducing cost of care. These two broad-based priorities are well understood
and appreciated, and will be represented by "C²."

Linda (Lynn) Bond, R.N., PACU

The family calls Bond a lifesaver.
HeRMIT System
-
Kim Duncan, manager of Human Resources Information Systems, reviewed the
new Human Resources Management Information Technology (HeRMIT) payroll
system at MUSC. Beginning Dec. 14, the HeRMIT system will produce
all biweekly paychecks and direct deposits. Monthly employees will
receive their first HeRMIT checks or direct deposits on Dec. 31.
The new paychecks will look very similar to the old ones.
-
The STAR system will not change as a result of the HeRMIT conversion.
-
The first check employees receive from the HeRMIT system in December will
include rate changes for benefits that take effect in 2000. If you
notice a difference in your pay, be sure to check for benefits changes
first.
-
If you have a question about your paycheck, contact your supervisor or
business manager. If questions remain, call 792-2191 or visit one of the
