Insurance premium deductions on hold for December Effective Jan. 1, MUSC will begin withholding employee insurance premiums on a current basis for both Medical University of South Carolina and Medical University Hospital Authority employees.  At the present time insurance premiums are withheld and paid one month in advance. This current policy causes hardships in many cases because the first paycheck for new employees contains insurance premium deductions for both the current month and the next month. The hardships have become more pronounced as insurance premiums have risen during the course of the last few years.  In order to transition from advance to current withholding of premiums, MUSC will not withhold insurance premiums in December (except for newly hired employees or employees who have an insurance status change).  If you have any questions in reference to insurance premium deductions contact the Medical University Hospital Authority Payroll Services at 792-8672/792-2035 or Medical University Payroll Services at 792-4935.   Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 Catalyst Online is published weekly, updated as needed and improved from time to time by the MUSC Office of Public Relations for the faculty, employees and students of the Medical University of South Carolina.
