CON students inducted into honor societyThe Gamma Omicron At-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International held its annual induction ceremony on Nov. 18 in St. Luke’s Chapel.The 2004 award recipients are bottom row from left: John Arce, recipient of the Marian Larisey Leadership Award for a CSU undergraduate inductee; Wendy Bishop, recipient of the Paula Theilan Award for a MUSC undergraduate inductee; Janet Byrne, recipient of the Founder’s Award for a graduate inductee. The individuals inducted consisted of nursing students from MUSC and Charleston Southern University as well as nurse leaders from the community. Sigma Theta Tau is the honor society of nursing that represents excellence in nursing. “It is a prestigious honor to be inducted into this society—the present and future nurses who were inducted this evening represent the best of the best in the profession,” said Marilyn Schaffner, R.N., president of Gamma Omicron At-Large. This honor society promotes scholarship, inquiry, leadership and quality
in nursing practice, education, research and administration. The individuals
recognized at November’s ceremony have demonstrated superior scholastic
achievements, academic integrity and professional leadership potential
and marked achievement in nursing.
