HCC to sponsor Survivor Challenge CharlestonThe Survivor Challenge Charleston, a cancer awareness and fund-raising event based on the hit television show "Survivor," will be held May 22 at Palmetto Island County Park in celebration of National Cancer Survivor's Day and June's Cancer Awareness Month.The event calls for teams of eight people (age 12 and older) to compete in eight fun and competitive events that will determine the ultimate team of survivors. Participating teams can be from area companies, corporations, survivors, families, friends, organizations who will compete in memory, in honor or in celebration of a cancer survivor or loved one. Each team must secure a team captain and choose a creative team name. A $350 entry fee/minimum team donation to Hollings Cancer Center is required by May 6. However, team captains must confirm team entry by April 30 by e-mail (pilkentt@musc.edu) or phone (792-7669). Teams can preregister via the Web or sign up 7:30 a.m., the morning of the event at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant. Challenge events include: Pass the Idol, Thirst Quencher, Ski Challenge and Spell to Survive. Awards, prizes and a special ceremony will be presented.
