2005 Health, Wellness ExpoUnder blue skies and spring-like temperatures, the MUSC 2005 Health and Wellness Expo attracted more than 2,000 participants interested in learning more about 60 MUSC health programs through wellness demonstrations and health screenings.The free Jan. 6 event was designed to promote and introduce health and wellness in the Charleston community. Drawing most participants to the event were specific health screenings including a cholesterol screening, physician-referred and pre-approved mammograms and underwater weigh-ins. A limited number of flu shots, administered by the MUSC Department of Family Medicine, were also available for $10 to seniors, age 50 and older. Expo participants included medical center and university representatives.
They included Dietetic Services, Carolina Family Care, Digestive Disease
Center, ENT Audiology, Project Sugar, Rutledge Tower Outpatient Pharmacy,
Smoking Cessation program and other programs. Lowcountry businesses
were also on-hand to demonstrate services or provide free product samples.
