Health Services to administer vaccine through Jan. 28
Employee Health Services will administer flu vaccines to eligible MUHA/MUSC
employees until Jan. 28. After Jan. 28 the vaccine will not be available
from Employee Health Services or Infection Control.
The following groups are eligible for influenza vaccination:
-
all adults greater than or equal to 50 years of age
-
persons under 50 years of age with underlying chronic medical conditions
-
health care workers involved in direct patient care
-
out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of children less than 6 months
-
out-of-home caregivers and household contacts of persons in high-risk groups
(e.g., persons aged =65 years; persons with chronic conditions such as
diabetes, heart or lung disease, or weakened immune systems because of
illness or medication; and children aged <2 years)
Employees who are not eligible for the flu vaccine may qualify for FluMist.
Employees that meet the criteria may be vaccinated at Employee Health
Services (57 Bee Street) Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30
p.m. until Jan. 28, no appointment required. Sporadic flu cases have been
reported in the community.
