UMA
honors employees with quarterly award
University Medical Associates (UMA) employees are regularly nominated by
patients, employees, co-workers for the medical center's Applause program
for their excellence and meritous acts.
Each quarter, a UMA committee selects winners from Applause award entries.
That person receives a 14K gold-filled Medical University College of Medicine
pin, framed Applause award document, $50 gift certificate and cake to share
with co-workers.
The quarterly award recipients are Kat Sanford, training; Faith Butler,
customer service; Annie Coulter, finance; Barbara Eaton, corporate information
systems; and Chris George, UMA information systems.
-
Sanford was nominated by other MUSC employees. Some of the comments from
the nominations included: “Kat Sanford has been very helpful to my area
since the go-live date in IDX. Kat assisted when she could in contacting
the necessary area and either obtaining the information for the nominator
or just went ahead and took care of it. Kat doesn’t ever worry about whether
it falls under her job duties.” Another nomination read: “I am nominating
Kat because she is always willing to help anyone who needs her. I have
only been at UMA for a short time, but it is people like Kat who make my
job and work environment a wonderful place.”
-
Butler was nominated by her co-workers. They stated: “If you looked up
‘model employee’ in the dictionary you would see Faith’s picture. Not only
does Faith demonstrate the AREA values, Faith also serves as a source of
real inspiration to her fellow co-workers. Faith is always willing
to assist both patients and co-workers, and does it all with a smile. UMA
is fortunate to have Faith on staff.”
-
Coulter, an employee with UMA for more than 30 years, was also nominated
by a co-worker for her dedication. The nomination reads, in part: “Annie
is a hard worker who has dedicated her career life to the organization.
Annie is nearing retirement in the next few months and I wanted to thank
her for her dedication, friendship and co-workership. Annie has helped
me in many a moment with work questions as well as personally. She
is always smiling, laughing and cracking jokes.”
-
Eaton was nominated for creating a query and then a program that consolidated
three individual companies books into one consolidated statement. This
has saved the organization many hours and ultimately, dollars. It has decreased
the margin of error due to manual calculations that were eliminated due
to this program. She is truly an asset to the information systems
department of corporate.
-
George was nominated for his hard work and effort in planning for and implementing
the new IDX system. In part, the nomination stated: “His knowledge, skill,
expertise, and experience were extremely valuable and key to the transition.
We couldn't have done it without him.”
