Meet...Linda
Name: Linda D. Lewis.
Department: Institute of
Psychiatry.
What
branch of the military are you in: I was an officer in the U.S.
Army Reserve Nurse Corps for eight years.
Family: Sons, Evan and Brent
Hallinan, and one grandson.
Favorite TV show: Law and Order.
Favorite reading: Murder
mysteries with psychological profilers involved.
Favorite type of music: Soft
rock.
Fondest childhood memory: Three
years spent in Germany and the times spent in German culture, hiking
the country side in search of great picnic sites.
Mentor: College of Nursing
Dean Dr. Gail Stuart has been my mentor as a professional although I
had long been in the nursing field when we met.
Something people don’t know about you:
I am a country girl raised on a farm in Sumter. Duirng the summer, I
picked cotton on my granddaddy’s farm.
Experience in the military that has
meant the most to you: Serving at Ft. Stewart for a year during
Desert Shield/Storm.
Words of advice: Don’t be
afraid to work hard for what you want out of life.
Something that you do that is silly but
fun: Make stuffed animals and dolls that “talk” to children. My
cousin still has “Mrs. Beasley” and fond memories of my baby-sitting
days when Mrs. Beasley played school and taught her and her four
brothers and sisters. I have kept that up through life with my sister’s
children and grandchildren. Now I have that bond with my grandson.
