Early registration for MUSC's Lose to
Win slated for Dec. 15
It’s that time of year where all losers turn out as winners. That’s
right; it’s time for Lose to Win 2006.
The dietetic interns are again sponsoring the annual healthy
lifestyle/weight loss program at MUSC. The contest runs from Jan. 12 to
Feb. 23 and all MUSC staff, students and friends, who are 18 years or
older, are encouraged to participate.
The theme for this year’s event is “Busy Bodies Building Healthy
Habits.” All of the activities surrounding the program will be aimed at
helping participants learn to build healthy habits into busy
everyday life.
Participants will receive a registration packet and weekly newsletters
with helpful tips and recipes. Energetic and interactive classes will
be offered at 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. six times throughout the
program. Topics for classes will include goal setting, weight
management, cooking, fad diets, eating out on a budget and
relaxation.
There will be many chances to win prizes throughout the competition.
Prizes include day passes to Curves, gift cards for local restaurants,
free personal training sessions at Wellness Springs, a free cosmetic
lesson and more. They will be given out during classes and at the end
of the program. At the program’s end, there will also be $350 in cash
prizes raffled to participants who attend all the classes and/or lose
at least six pounds.
Early registration will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dec.
15 and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Jan. 5 across from the Gourmet
Coffee Shop. Participants may pre-register at drop boxes located in the
hospital lobby, the Clinical Sciences Building entrance, the Harper
Student Center and the cafeteria. Registration information and
questions can also be sent to musclosetowin@yahoo.com.
Those registered before Jan. 12 will receive a discount of $5 off the
$20 registration fee. The program will officially begin with the
weigh-in on Jan. 12 and will be completed with the weigh-out on Feb.
23. So, mark your calendars and make it a priority to help your busy
body build some healthy habits and maybe you could be the loser who
wins big.
