KCI supports nurses at Medical Center

Representatives from Kinetic Concepts Incorporated (KCI) presented Marilyn Schaffner a check of $1,000 to thank MUHA for the years of collaboration fostered between MUHA nurses and the KCI representatives.

KCI provides therapeutic products for MUHA patients. Some of these products include V.A.C.®  (Vacuum Assisted Closure) Therapy, equipment for bariatric care and specialty beds.

Recognizing that the intense environment of today’s critical care unit requires absolute excellence in practice and in order to meet the educational needs of critical care nurses, KCI developed the Critical Care Mentorship Program, an advanced-level continuing education program for the expert/advanced practice critical care nurse.

With this program, MUHA becomes a site where experienced nurses can visit a research-oriented facility, spend time with a nationally known expert nurse mentor (provided by KCI), and exchange ideas to help advance and improve the level of care in the ICU.

This program is a two-day course and offered to facilities who have demonstrated best practice in critical care medicine. Shaffner thanked KCI for their commitment to care of patients and support of MUHA nurses. The $1,000 check will be used to support Nurses’ Week activities.
