MUSC's E&F staff dedicated to prompt, customer service

The Engineering and Facilities Unit (E&F) provides services to the MUSC community including facilities maintenance and repair, renovation, construction, recycling, waste disposal, housekeeping and grounds services.

Charlie Sander, from left, Jeff Ruark and Chris Barrett are three of the Enginnering and Facilities personnel ready to provide service when needed. Also on the team are Dave Callahan, David Frasier, Jim Murphy, Roy Oliver and Wayne Warren.

The Service Call Desk is staffed by eight specially trained individuals whose mission is to provide courteous and prompt telephone assistance for all facilities needs. In addition to handling telephone requests, the Service Call Desk monitors the environmental controls for heating and air conditioning, power usage, and fire alarm systems for most campus buildings.

All service requests received by the Service Call Desk are documented and forwarded to the appropriate repair shop, which then schedules the work and dispatches personnel. If additional information about the problem is needed, requesters will be contacted directly by the repair shop(s) involved.

The Service Call Desk is available around the clock. E&F repair shops are here from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. All normal requests made after 4 p.m. or on weekends are handled during normal working hours. In the event of an after hours emergency, off-campus personnel are notified and will return to campus as quickly as possible to assess and rectify the situation.

The MUSC community is encouraged to call 792-4119 to report all maintenance and repair needs. Callers are asked to provide their name, telephone number, and a description and location of the service needed. Be prepared to provide the building name and room number if appropriate.
