Every Step Counts available online

Have you ever thought you could walk across the country? Of course you can. Every Step Counts is a walking program designed by the MUSC Wellness  committee to promote healthy habits among the MUSC community. The MUSC goal is to make it to the West Coast.

As its name implies, Every Step Counts means that all steps on participants' step counters should be counted.

This includes early morning walks, walking around the house getting ready for work, walking from the parking lot and any other walking done during the day. Wear your step counter all day and enter your steps online at
http://www.muschealth.com website_req/steps/index.cfm

You can view your progress on a log, check the page out for weekly fitness and nutrition tips. Topics include designing a walking program, what to wear, selection of walking shoes, prevention and treatment of walking injuries, nutrition, proper hydration, and ways to increase daily steps. Move more and eat less is the recipe for better health. Begin with only two small daily changes: take 2,000 more steps (about one mile) and eat 100 fewer calories (about a pat of butter). There is no cost to register for the Every Step Counts program.

For information or for a step counter, e-mail evrystep@musc.edu. In addition, a wellness table will be at the Women's Resource Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22 in the horseshoe.
