Nominees
announced for teaching awards
Faculty and students nominated 43 faculty members to be considered for
this year’s Health Sciences Foundation Teaching Excellence Awards.
The awards will be presented at the Fall Faculty Convocation in August,
but MUSC Provost John Raymond, M.D., will announce the winners in The Catalyst
the week before commencement for the benefit of graduating students.
A review committee composed of faculty representatives from each college
and the Student Government Association will select the recipients.
Up to three awards will be presented from the following categories:
Educator-Mentor, for excellence in mentoring and serving as a role model
for students in clinical or research activities; Educator-Lecturer, for
excellence in traditional didactic or classroom teaching; and Developing
Teacher, for excellence in teaching by a junior faculty member.
Each recipient will be presented a $3,000 cash award, a certificate,
and a pewter medallion to be worn with academic regalia.
